Vintage Cream Queen Anne Bedsides

There is something about a colour called Vintage Cream and Queen Anne style furniture that just go together. I have had this pair of bedside for quite some time.

It wasn't until I was hunting for something that I remembered I had them, so I pulled them out as I thought they would be perfect to try my new Vintage Cream Vintage Paint on. I think they turned our beautifully, just enough colour to not be boring, and with the cubby underneath the drawer they can be dressed with a basket for storage or without. Hope you like them!

Stencil Tip No. 4

Our furniture stencil tip number 4 is:

  • do not move your stencil
before stenciling work out exactly where you want your image  and measure and line up your stencil  in the right spot. To keep it in that exact spot I suggest using green painters tape to lightly tape it in place, like this:

and this:

This will help it stay in the same place. As you paint, hold down parts of your stencil close to where you are painting and dabbing, to ensure those parts stay flat to your piece, this will help against leakage under the stencil and untidy lines and bleeding of the paint underneath the stencil. If possible it is also a good idea to try and stencil on a flat surface, so you could move your piece onto its back if you were stenciling on the front cupboard for example. Of course this is not always possible so going carefully and slowly will help too.
To see our other stencil tips go here stencil tip no.1 and here stencil tip no.2 and here stencil tip no.3

Happy stenciling!

American Style Tallboy in Antique White

I won this piece in an auction as I could see it had really good bones. It was shabby and neglected but with some sealer, antique white vintage paint and semi gloss poly she is now transformed:

This is how she started off, and check out those weird drawer runners! If anyone knows about these please let me know as I have not come across them before.

And back to some great refurb photos again...I love the the combo of blue and white always!
