Chalk Furniture Finish paint is now available at Pyes Pa Villa Design. Pick up or we can post to you if convenient. I have been busy re finishing pieces in this silky smooth paint and will post some pictures up later this week. CFF paint is very comparable to other name brand paints with soft neutrals and brights.

Pricing

200 ml       $19.00

The small pot is big enough to paint a small table or bedside in two coats and is a great way to trial the paint or a colour.

Old Chiffonier and other Friday Finds

It's not technically Friday today but I had a busy Friday and posted only on Facebook. This week we have found some very old and tatty furniture that we will bring back to life soon. A lovely detailed chiffonier which is in pieces but has a great shelf and drawer. And a deco style dresser, with an unusable damaged mirror. I feel a bit sorry for them in their current states and they need serious work, but I have ideas for them already...

New tool box Giant sitting behind a Normal size

We are always on the look out for wooden totes or tool boxes and found this one on Trade me, it had no measurements listed on the auction and we didn't think to ask. We picked it up and imagine our surprise when this GIANT tool box ( the unpainted one) came out, ba ha ha !! I have put it next to one that sits on the potting bench for a size comparison in the photo. It won't be becoming a quaint little decor item that's for sure, I am thinking it make have to be re commissioned as storage in the painting studio. Any other suggestions gladly listened to.

Stained Top and Painted Bottom Chest

It's always good to try different looks and this is a big step away from my normal neutral and soft colour palette. The drawers were falling apart and needed some serious repair work inside to make them slide again and stay in one piece. The chest had a lovely strong grain in the timber but seemed to be made from a mix of woods. To highlight this I originally white washed it, but because of different grains and cuts it did not look right at all. Insert - it looked terrible, fail! - So I thought I would try staining the top. This was easy! I used a water based stain that I rubbed on with a cloth and let dry and deepen for a few days. I then painted the base in AS graphite. I clear waxed the entire piece and then dark waxed the painted pieces for more depth. It's a departure from my normal look but I love it, especially how it highlights the interesting grain to the top. A look I will be trying again.

I nearly forgot the before pic..

Chalk Furniture Finish NZ Chalk Paint

I have always painted with Annie Sloan Chalk paint and wax really enjoyed the colours and projects I have created using it. Recently I have tried a NZ made chalk paint and super loved the results it has given me. I have liked it so much we have now become the Bay Of Plenty supplier of it. It is silky smooth, comes in 20 amazing colours and works exactly like you want and would expect a chalk paint to be. Stock is arriving this week and comes in two sizes. 200ml pot, suitable for a bedside or small project and 1 litre. The smaller size is great for trying a colour you are not sure about or if you only have a small item to paint. Not only do I love the paint, but I also love the fact that it's NZ made and competitively priced against other chalk paint brands.

Contact me on facebook or by email villadesign@xtra.co.nz if you want to know more.

Here are some projects I have recently completed using Chalk Furniture Finish Paint:

Friday Finds - Op Shopping Treasure hunts

Friday is a free day for me from my pay-the-bills job, and on Fridays I go around my favourite opportunity shops to find furniture or decor items  that I can re-purpose into fun projects for my home or gallery.

This week I found some lacy old doilies that I will be sending to my Sister to remake into bunting, So beautiful once made up..

And some cute flower pictures with solid frames. They are a bit dated and I will re purpose them at some stage to go in my gallery, but I have used them already as staging props for a sideboard I just finished.

And my favourite Friday Find? Blue and white tablecloth in PERFECT condition. fantastic addition to my blue and white collection, I will be working this into our dining room in some form asap
