Duck Egg Blue Painted Bedsides

Purchasing a full bedroom suite is a cost effective way of purchasing several furniture pieces and then you get to re-style each piece any way you wish. On a previous post here I showed you the large duchess of this bedroom suite which I painted in Pure White Annie Sloan paint. On the bedsides I used all the original hardware and spray painted them in a hammered silver finish. Both furniture pieces were painted in AS Duck Egg Blue. A gorgeous colour, I distressed them a little adn the detail of the style really showed through well. I listed them on trade me and they sold straight away, they are now enjoying their new home.

I hope you enjoyed this makeover, have a great week

Bedside Tables Before

I just found these gorg bedside tables and I will be refinishing them soon. They have a beautiful flower carving on the sides and great details in all of the lines, even the hardware is nice and will come up beautifully once painted. They are saying to me paint me dark, so I think I might paint them up in French Linen, a beautiful brown grey colour, I will post again once they are done.  I just had to share them as you don't find beautiful pieces like this every day.

Oak dresser redo and sliding drawer tips

Hi Everyone, here is a sneak peek at a dresser I am painting at the moment. I heart these so much as they are beautifully made and look amazing once painted and slightly distressed, a great way to recycle a piece of furniture to continue working well in a bedroom. This one is being painted in Country Grey Annie Sloan paint and I am thinking crystal knobs at the moment, knobs are WIP ( work in progress...) I should finish it this weekend and I will upload pictures then... sometimes it is hard to remember to take before photos before it is too late, luckily I took this while I was taking pictures of something else in my studio and saved it

Sliding drawer Tips

I have done some research on the best way to make old drawers slide again and the best ways that work for me are the old ways. During painting a new piece I take some time to vacuum out all of the inside of the cabinet and also the outside of each drawer and where the runners sit along the side or bottom of the drawers.
I usually do some light sanding along the runners inside the cabinet to smooth them out and wax along these same runners and the outside and edges of the drawers with plain old cheap candle wax. This has always worked successfully for me and I am able to make pieces which I can honestly say "all drawers slide well".
It may take a little extra work but it is worth it, as the piece will be easy to use.

Ugly Orange Duchess to Stylish Painted Sideboard

In December I purchased a complete bedroom suite and I have slowly refurbished it a piece at a time. Today I finished the final piece which was the large duchess with attached mirror. The mirror was not recoverable at all as it was not reflecting  - worse mirror I had ever seen, but I had other plans for this duchess anyway. Holes were filled where struts had been, handles were painted in a metallic dark silver and knobs were put in the top two drawers. Here is what she ended up looking like

Just because I heart Blue and White

And just so you know how far this piece has come, this is what she looked like when I went to pick her up...I hope she gets a better life in her new home. Let me know what you think?
